Running long distance means you need a pack for an extra layer, some "vitamin I" (ibuprofen), and H20. A single main compartment is accessed with clamshell-style, dual-slider zippers. There's a sleeve next to your back for hanging a hydration system and the his is routed out the top. Compression straps from the top and across the front reduce bulk when half full. A ladder chain up the middle lets you strap tools on when you need them. Mesh pockets on the padded hip belt are great for organizing smaller items. ActiVent molded suspension channels heat and sweat away to keep you from overheating while carrying a full pack.
In case you're wondering what that little ring is on the waistbelt? It's a pull-your-tired-friend ring. Clip a short rope to your friends ring, then wrap the other end around your waist and pull them along when they want to just lie down. Works in reverse if you're the one bonking.
