"This down shell from Red Fox is an outstanding insulated resort jacket. Well priced, below $500, you'll be hard pressed to find a warmer and more versatile ski jacket. And while the Gore WINDSTOPPER Active Shell is not fully waterproof, it's plenty water-resistant for snowy days on the hill — let's face it, you're not going to pull this jacket out of the closet when it's warm enough to rain. The shell protects from wind and cold exceptionally well, with its combination of the outer Windstopper fabric and 700+ down fill, and does a fine job managing temperature and moisture. This Red Fox is an excellent, no-nonsense down shell that's comfortable on both typical and frigid days out on the slopes."
When winter reigns in Colorado it gets cold. Bitter cold. But at least it’s windy.
If that sounds like what you need to protect yourself from you'll love Red Fox’s Down Shell. Filled with plenty of airy light, super plush 700+ goose down to stay warm in winter temperatures, plus a Windstopper shell to nullify the wind.
We pay attention to the other details too, like a long elastic knit wrist guard complete with thumb loops to block snow creeping up inside your sleeve, PLUS hook 'n' loop cuff closures to lock heat in and keep the cold outside . External zippers have a thick PU coating to block water from seeping in. Inside there's a handy chest pocket. A helmet easily fits under the hood, with a laminated brim and draw cords front and back to cinch it tight to your face in front, and around the perimeter whether you're wearing a helmet, a warm beanie, or a full head of hair.

Comfortable, great colour (although not similar to the website colour for crimson), warmish, excellent fit. Issue is the front pockets are very deep so anything you put in them adds to your hip area where there's no extra space rather than smaller waist area where there's actually room. Also the jacket is really not tailored for women's shape, it's pretty much straight. And it is more of a wind stopper in the south than a wind stopper in the north, we are just north of the Arctic Circle and I could feel the cold seeping in after a few minutes outside in minus 32 celsius. Overall a great jacket for medium temperatures or with layers in colder temperatures and wear it when you are not trying to cut a svelte silhouette.
This is by far one of the best jackets I have ever bought! I used it all last season skiing, and was continually impressed. The wind blocker fabric is critical for those balmy days, you never have to worry about being cold. It also has great stash pockets and a well fitted hood! Love this jacket!
This is hands down one of the best winter jackets I've ever owned. I am a backcountry ski guide in Colorado and this jacket keeps me dry when its snowing and warm on those bitter cold days. The fit is awesome - I am a slim, 5 ft. girl - and have a hard time finding jackets that don't just hang off my body. This is just like the Arcteryx 'Lillooet' jacket at $825, except less than half the price!!!
